Magnify.net is releasing a private beta aspect that allows anyone to produce their own Vlog. Magnify's latest addition to their video curation platform lets anyone with a video camera produce, edit and add elements to their own Vlog page. Podcamp co-founder Chris Brogan will be hosting a daily video blog called “Attention Upgrade” to illustrate the power of this cool new tool. Magnify and Brogan are sending out an open invitation to anyone interested in Vlogging as part of this kickoff too.
Magnify is the Web's fastest growing video community - last month when I reviewed the startup the site was getting 10 million page views per month - according to Alexa this number has almost doubled since then.
The new webcam capture tool will be available as a free add-on to the Magnify channel creation platform. The service includes free page design, webcam support, video upload and revenue sharing from Magnify's advertising inventory. Already, over 20,000 publishers have dedicated content channels on the magnify platform.
Other Cool Upgrades
Magnify is also rolling out some other slick tools along with this Vlog tool box. Widget Maker 2.0 allows sites to build an interactive remote control widget suited to their specifications. The Magnify Bookmarklet allows for video referrals from across the Net and essentially adds a human discovery element to updating video. Custom Page Builder and Flash Uploader (and other recent upgrades) provide magnify users with a relatively vast set of video tools.
Magnification of Video
I really liked Magnify in my last review and it is pretty obvious that the developers are on the right track with this latest news. From a personal perspective, I have often thought of setting up my own “fancy news set” to do some Vlogging (maybe this is a sign?). We see so many tools that add value to the user experience, but enabling video enthusiasts in this way has certainly not be over done this year. Magnify has integrated this new Vlogging into a rather massive network of video content aggregation. The continued addition of valuable user tools will serve Magnify and its users well. Personal creation of video content should be the next great trend across the Web, I have often wondered why it has not transcended text in some sectors, perhaps no one had the tool they needed?

[…] I loved Magnify the moment I saw it and since my early explorations into the startup they have added over 25,000 new content publishers. Magnify is the fastest growing video platform on the Web at the moment, and it is easy to se why. CEO Steve Rosenbaum has this to say: "We are moving into a world where people have to tools and the ability to create together, and share their creations. The decision to provide an Open Source space for channel graphics and elements is just the first step in what we expect to be an emerging trend." […] | |
